Civil War correspondence, 1862-1863.

Correspondence, Apr. 21, 1862-Jan. 11, 1863, written to [Mary Ann Stryker Ransburg of Quincy, Mich.] by her nephews, Charles and Marcus Gray. Charles served 9 months in the 1st U.S. Chasseurs while Marcus ran the family farm in Republic, Ohio. On Aug. 11, 1862 both enlisted in Co. K, 45th Regiment, Ohio Volunteer Infantry. Charles last letter from Lexington refers to Marcus' death and pursuit of Morgan through Versailles and Frankfort in Kentucky.
